If your answer is "YES" to any of the these two questions, please go on and register for this sponsered programme
History:
The Azad Bharat Rail Yatra was initiated by a group of IIT,IIM and TISS alumnees in 1997 , on the fiftieth anniversary of India's independence, a train journey across India. The purpose – to get a sense of how the country had changed in the past fifty years of independence, and what needed to be accomplished in the future. On this twenty-two day journey, in a specially chartered train, were 200 Indians from different walks of life – young men and women whose commitment would help shape the country's future.
It has been an annual journey from 1997.
Specially chartered & designed train to facilitate debates ,discussions and other interactive events on the journey. 50 % male and 50% female participation is expected.Hence more chances for female. Males and females are accommodated in different (2-tier/3-tier) coaches separated in the middle by coaches serving as a common room where discussions and debates are held.
Most of the events will be covered and telecasted by CNBC and other TV channels.
Now the TATA has become the lead sponser for the programme besides other corporates..Its been joint venture between entrepreneurial institutions like CIIE – IIM Ahmedabad , School of Business and Entrepreneurship-University of Essex, NEN (National Entrepreneurship Network), GEN(Global Entrepreneurship Network), TIE (Globus Indus Entrepreneurs), JEN(Jagriti Enterprise Network) as well as IIT Alumni chapters.
The JEN is a is proposed to be a network of institutions and relationships that provide training to start and scale up enterprises in rural and semi-urban areas. This idea is being developed by creating the first such institute near Gorakhpur/Deoria in Eastern UP, as a precursor to creating a network of 10 such institutes across the country over the next 10 years.
Our rigorous selection process includes assessment of the candidates' demonstration of entrepreneurial spirit.will be chosen for their entrepreneurial spirit and their desire to contribute towards building India's future. There will be a strict recruitment process, which will involve resume evaluation, an essay and a telephonic interview. Three independent judges of high merit including volunteer leadership consultants are doing this. Alongside, distinguished mentors from various fields will also be selected to come on board as facilitators, upon invitation by this distinguished panel.
The yatra starts from IIT-Bombay with an introduction session.Starting from Bombay and traversing the length and breadth of the country to return to Bombay on 18 days later. The journey will pass through major Indian metro's and also stop off at more rural locations to visit innvoative initiatives such as Tilonia, an ideal village set up by a well known Indian social entrepreneur named Bunker Roy, as well as many other places of interest and institutes where technology, policy and social innovation is transforming the face of India.
For those women participants that do not have a place to stay in Mumbai, the IIT girls hostel will be made available.
