Introduction:

" Intellectual Property Rights” have achieved greater significance in the recent past owing to its implications in knowledge economy. IPRs play a key role in encouraging the industrial development and economic growth.

But it is a grave concern that a larger cross-section of Our Scientific workers is yet to be made fully aware of the necessity of harnessing the Strong IPR system to their best advantage. So far IPR has not obtained popularity among the science students in the country except very few Universities which have mandatory course on IPR.

Also the recent past has witnessed a sharp rise in IPR litigations in the Country and the trend is expected to gather momentum in the near future, where an exponential growth is predicted in respect of patent litigations. Hence there is a greater demand to raise awareness on IP management among the life science community.
