📢 Call for Expression of Interest (EoI)

🔬 The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) invites researchers and institutions across India to submit Expressions of Interest (EoIs) for research studies evaluating food- and diet-based approaches for the prevention and/or management of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).

🌾 Under the SEHAT (Science Excellence for Health through Agricultural Transformation) Mission, a joint national mission of ICMR and ICAR, the initiative seeks to strengthen evidence linking agriculture, food, nutrition and health.

Areas of interest include:

🦠 Microbiome-directed foods, prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics

🌿 Traditional, indigenous and region-specific foods

🌾 Millets, pulses, cereals, fruits, vegetables and other agricultural commodities

🥗 Biofortified and nutrient-enhanced foods

🍎 Novel food products and dietary patterns

❤️ Food-based approaches targeting obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular risk, hypertension and dyslipidaemia 

🤝 Multidisciplinary collaborations across agriculture, food science, nutrition, medicine, microbiome science, public health and related fields are encouraged.

​🔬 What is the OIST Research Internship?

​The OIST Research Internship offers short-term research placements in OIST's world-class STEM laboratories. Interns work on specific projects under the direct guidance of OIST faculty, fully integrating into the university’s active research community.

​Mathematical & Computational Sciences

​Period: Spring 2027 (between 1 April and 30 September 2027)

​Duration: 4 to 6 months (determined individually)

​🎯 Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)

​OIST welcomes applications from students in Japan and all around the globe. You are eligible to apply if you fall into any of the following categories:

​Undergraduate Students: Must be in the final two years of a Bachelor’s degree.

​Master’s Students: Currently enrolled in any year of a Master's degree program.

​Recent Graduates: Those who have recently completed their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.

​💰 What Support is Provided? (Fully Funded!)

​To allow you to focus entirely on your research, OIST offers a highly competitive support package:

​Allowance: JPY 2,400 per day (to cover daily living costs)

​Travel: Fully covered round-trip airfare to Okinawa, Japan.

Accommodation: Fully furnished on-campus housing provided at no cost (shared/apartment-style).

​Commuting: Free access to the OIST shuttle system.

​Administrative Support: Visa

 processing, campus registration, and local settle-in support.
