NIHR Funding Opportunity | Tackling Antimicrobial Resistance 

 The NIHR Global Health Research Themed Programme is inviting applications to address bacterial and fungal antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. 

The call aims to support high-quality research that strengthens prevention, diagnosis, treatment, surveillance, and health system responses to AMR.

 💰 Funding: £0.5 to £5 million

 📅 Deadline: 8 July 2026

 🌍 Focus: LMIC-led partnerships, implementation research, health systems strengthening, and policy-relevant evidence. 

 This is an excellent opportunity for researchers and institutions working in infectious diseases, One Health, antimicrobial stewardship, diagnostics, and global health.

The Competition Details:

The Streams are:
1. Life Sciences / Medical Sciences
2. Engineering subjects,
3. Agriculture
4. Social Innovations / Business Proposals

As you could have seen in our Ad poster, it will have 5 stages:

1.Registration and payment (last date 30th September)

2.Industry based competition topics will be announced and students will have to send entries (5th October)

3. The top 10 students will be selected in each category by industrial juries (10th October)

4. Final pitch will be given by students (13th & 14th October)

5. Announcement of results on 15th October

Rules:

1. The ideas or project / model should be original and not taken from internet sites or other sources. They will be rejected.

2. You can either work on Industrial challenge proposed by partners or can submit your own novel ones, but it is the choice of Sponsors to award, However, best projects in this stream will get prizes through Geomarine Biotechnologies.

​3. First three prizes or consolations prizes and the value of prizes and types are to be decided based on the Sponsors wish. 

4. All participants will get E-Certificates, top 10 a certificate of Excellence and awardees with position.

MBBS/BDS; or
MTech in engineering preferably Computer Science.


Essential:
Candidates should be motivated and willing to commit for PhD degree.
DST INSPIRE/ICMR/GATE fellows or CSIR/UGC JRF is must.
